New Media Academy

The goal of the New Media Academy is to prepare students to transition into college or a successful career in the New Media Industry. Students learn and work in state-of-the-industry facilities that boast a fully-equipped computer lab complete with the newest Mac computers and the latest versions of Adobe Suite and Maya Animation Software.

Students have the opportunity to gain real world experience by working side-by-side with local business partners and having access to a fully-functional video recording studio, including green screens, teleprompters, and cutting-edge video editing software (Final Cut Pro).

Academy students enter local competitions held at the Orange County Fairgrounds, the Bowers Museum and other community sponsored competitions. They also have the opportunity to visit businesses that rely heavily on new media technologies to be successful. These companies include EON Reality and Boeing Manufacturing, both companies in the aerospace industry, who use state-of-the-art, 3-D virtual reality applications, used in fighter pilot helmets and training for large commercial airplanes.

To further promote higher education, New Media Academy students also participate on field trips to institutions like the Art Institute and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
